Varvaglione – “Papale” Primitivo di Manduria

Puglia

R285.00

59 in stock

Only grapes of particularly old vines are used for this primitivo from Manduria.
After fermentation, the wine undergoes ageing in French oak barrels, where it can then refine for 8 months.
Papale Primitivo di Manduria comes into the glass with bright purple and cherry-red reflections. The nose is determined by the most intense notes of ripe berries, especially blackberries, blueberries and red currants. Spicy notes of brown candy, oak, cocoa and liquorice round off the bouquet.
On the palate it starts wonderfully round, full-bodied and silky. Its subtle fruit sweetness combines excellently with soft tannins and a harmoniously woven fruit sweetness.
The wine got its name from the vineyard where the grapes grow, because it once belonged to the family of Pope Benedict XIII

Enjoy this first-class primitivo of old vines with spicy meat dishes such as lamb ragout with cinnamon and quinces, grilled entrecôte with braised pepper or chocolate desserts.
