Fiano is. an ancient vine cultivar of the Roman era. Its etymology refers to Apianus and the apiane grapes mentioned by Pliny. Its name was traced back to the bees who would have been greedy to acquire the grapes’ sugar. The beautiful vineyards are spread out over lush and gentle hills in Sorbo Serpico, in Irpinia, approximately an hour from Naples and Mount Vesuvius. A territory characterized by unique volcanic, sandstone and marl soils. Each vineyard is closely monitored with a meteorological station and combined with the technologies of the new state of the art wine cellar; they ensure that each vintage comes as close to perfection as possible. The soil in the Pietracalda vineyard is predominantly volcanic, which imparts the distinctive minerality in the resulting wine. it is the best expression of Fiano. Feudi di San Gregorio picks the best grapes to produce wines in the “Selezioni” range, able to express the essence and the merits of Irpinia’s territory.  The alcoholic fermentation takes place in steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 16°-18°C followed by the maturation of about 4-5 months in steel tanks with permanence on their yeasts and repeated bâtonnage to put in suspension the fine lees. This sensational wine of the Campania tradition has a distinct straw yellow color. The bouquet ranges from fresh chamomile flowers to freshly picked fruit and candied citron. The taste on the palate is released with the classic elegance of Fiano di Avellino, thanks to a smoothness perfectly balanced by freshness and a lively minerality. A wonderful taste, which closes with a finish of rare persistence.
