Wine Spectator gave 2015 vintage the highest rating a Chianti Classico has ever received, rating it even higher than Castello di Ama with its’ $400+ price tag, making it a very hard to get wine worldwide from then onwards. We have managed to secure a few bottles of 2016 which are nowe sold out and a few 2017 are in stock for our Vinotria customers.
The vineyards of Volpaia, located between 300 and 600m. a.s.l., are between the highest of the Chianti region. This is one of the reasons why our Chianti Classico is renowned for its elegance and freshness with a rich bouquet of red fruits and spices.
The 2017 Castello di Volpaia’s Chianti Classico Riserva very much resembles the 2016. It’s big and juicy, with layers of dark fruit, bramble and an extremely long finish. It balances vibrant acidity against beautiful tannin and may have even more life ahead of it than the 2016. Drink now or lay down in your cellar. Drink until 2045
